Dear Representative Granholm,

I am writing to urge you to use your power as the United States' IEA representative to make IEA's data available to all.

As Secretary of Energy, you are aware that addressing climate change depends on
high-quality climate and energy data.

The International Energy Agency, of which the USA is a funder, has this high-quality data. Unfortunately, it is currently locked behind a paywall, making it unusable for many researchers and journalists.

The IEA budget states that currently only one-fifth of its annual budget (~ 5.7 million USD) come from data sales. This small revenue does not justify the paywall.

I ask you to use your influence to remove the imposition that the IEA needs to finance part of their budget with data sales and increase the funding if necessary.
